Set in 200 acres of prime Cumbrian countryside, MHL started offering livery services in the mid 1990's. Taking over from his parents, Peter & wife Leanne have been expanding MHL since 2003 starting with the main stable yard. They were later joined by their 2 children Rhys & Evie.
From 2004 - 2017 they ran the Cumwhinton Horse Trials with classes from 80cm to Young Horses and Open Novice.
With the ongoing improvements to their arenas ensuring top quality surface & becoming fully floodlit, they started running multiple events.
In 2025 work started on the next expansion to the competition centre with two new arenas which will open February 2026. With further developments of competition stabling & cafe, 2026/2027 will see the return of their Cross Country Course.
They also produce their own hay & haylage which is is used across Cumbria & South West Scotland.
